How to contact Canadian Immigration Department for spousal sponsorship in Pakistan

After applying for Canadian permanent residence under family immigration program, you will not hear any thing for about a year after stage one approval. Try not to contact immigration office during this time because they haven't started reviewing your file yet. If you are really concerned or if you don't hear a long time after that, you have three options to contact the visa office.

  • First one is to call them on the numbers given on the websites. http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/pakistan/contact-contactez.aspx?lang=eng.  This is not the better option because you have to wait for long times and most of the time you wont get a detailed reply.
  • Second is to email the visa office. This should be the preferred option as it is the fastest way to communicate. Email address of Islamabad office is isbad@international.gc.ca and London office is london-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca
  • Third option is to contact by post. You can also send documents of proof of ongoing relationship with your letter. Address of Islamabad Visa office is
                                                   High Commission of Canada
                                                   Diplomatic Enclave, Sector G-5
                                                   Islamabad, Pakistan
                                                   P. O. Box 1042
                                                   Islamabad, Pakistan

 Here is a sample letter.

Things to buy from Pakistan

While visiting Pakistan or when planning to move abroad you have a question in mind that what should I take with me back home. Pakistan is a shopper's paradise. At every market, mall, and bazaar there is a treasure of things to be discovered. Here is a list of things that you must consider to buy and take with you from Pakistan.

1. Dresses

Clothing (shirts, T-shirts, kurtas, shalwar kameez, formal dresses, and wedding dresses) can be purchased very cheaply. You’ll find brands such as Adidas and Levis, one of the largest textile areas in the world. You’ll find these brands in local stores.
Women clothing is so cheap, so buy your dresses when you arrive. Good places to shop for casual wear are Generation, Beech Tree, Daaman, khadi, Maria B, Chinyere and Nishat Linen. These are all local brands that provide ready to wear dresses. A set can cost as little as $30-50 USD.

2. Embroidered Bed sheets

In Pakistan, bed sheets are usually custom made and are very affordable. Go to any bed sheet store and choose a pattern of your choice on one of their large rolls. Usually you can get the bed sheets and the pillowcases sewn up within a couple of days. If you want something really nice, check out designer home décor at Bareeze or Chen One.

3. Carpets

Pakistan is the place to find beautiful Arabian, Afghan, Iranian, and Pakistani carpets.
Beautiful hand knotted carpets with beautiful oriental designs and sharp colours are worth to buy. There are various sizes and you can easily take home.
Carpets are available at very reasonable prices, and prices vary considerably by the density of the threads per square inch.

4. Shawls, Pashminas

For something with a little more ethnic feel and something you just can’t buy at home, look for pashminas, wool shawls, and wraps. You’ll find simple to extravagant.
Any market or bazaar have more than enough to choose from and the attendants are happy to open every one for you to see. You can buy one at quite affordable rates and they are best suited for beating the chill back home. These are easy to pack and will be a sure hit with any ladies back home.

5. Spectacles

If you use spectacles then bring your prescription with you and buy spectacles from Pakistan. You can save $200 to 300 USD on each spectacle

6. Jewelry, Stone Jewelry

Jewelry and gems are very inexpensive in Pakistan, too. Jewelry of various qualities is available at every market and mall in Pakistan.
Precious and semi-precious stones are mined all over Northern Pakistan. You can buy rubies, emeralds, sapphires and other gems for less than in the United States. You can get gold jewelry in amazing designs in any major city. Liberty Market, Lahore is famous for gold jewelry.

7. Foot wear:

Shoes are available of good quality and reasonable prices. Leather goods including shoes, jackets, and bags, can be purchased here. There are some specific designers who make their own shoes. It’s worth checking out.

8. Wall Hangings

Don’t forget to buy some traditional stuff. Traditional Sindhi handiwork makes an amazing wall hanging that can add some style to your bedroom or make your living room beautiful. You'll find two types, the regular type that is made to look rough and antique, and the type marketed for tourists with bolder, brighter colors and with smooth edges.

9. Sport items:

In Pakistan you’ll find such high quality sport's goods at such low prices that you can't find anywhere else. You can buy items like cricket bats, balls, footballs, sportswear, and more. Sialkot has the world's biggest sport's goods industry and produces 90% of the world’s sporting goods.
